Description

This curriculum is based on the educational philosophy and writings of Charlotte Mason, who based all learning on self-discovery, living books, notebooking, and learning through experiencing.

Charlotte Mason emphasized laying a feast before children and placing them in a large room, both meaning exposing children to many, many wonderful subjects over their educational career, and the riches are a huge part of this!

The riches are subjects like Bible study, poetry, art study, composer study, learning hymns and folk songs, handicrafts, virtue readings, and more! These subjects are all worthwhile and meaningful, but often get tossed to the side when subjects like math, phonics, grammar, and science are seen as "more important."

Fitting the riches in doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming in order to add a fullness to your children's education that they may otherwise be lacking. With Daily Riches, in just about twenty minutes a day many days, your children can experience the riches with this open-and-go resource!

What ages is this for?

This resource was created for ALL ages, preschool through high school. And honestly, adult parents and teachers will also learn a lot, too!

The whole family participates in the subjects outlined in the Teacher's Guide and then each student can have his or her own of 4 Student Workbook options included to fit their level of writing skills (preschool through high school).

How long does a lesson take?

For our family with ages 4-9, many days take just about 20 minutes. If your children are older, take a long time to do copywork, really want to dive into the art or composer study, or on the days you complete the handicraft, the curriculum can take longer. But, it was designed to fit the riches in as simply as possible without adding tons of time to your homeschool day.

With the easy-to-use weekly grids, you can easily split the curriculum up and implement pieces throughout the day or you can gather your children at one time during the day (morning works well for us but afternoon or evening may work better for your family) and do it all at one time. Use it however works best for your family!

Only 5 core books for the year:

  • This curriculum only uses 5 core books (the Bible, Long Story Short, The Book of Virtues, Sewing School, and Paper Sloyd for Primary Grades).
  • 3 of the books will be used again in Volume 2 (available in 2025), so it saves on expenses and the handicraft resources can be used again and again!

Living picture books:

  • In addition to looking at beautiful artwork, listening to amazing musical masterpieces, and reading thought-provoking poems, throughout the year you will read many living picture books about the artists, composers, and poets to learn more about the inspirations, motivations, failures, triumphs, and what they were up against despite such profound talent.
  • I recommend reserving these from the library or watching the included video read alouds when available.

Student Workbooks for ALL levels:

  • This curriculum is truly family-style, meaning everyone in the family can be involved!
  • Included are 4 different Student Workbooks for all writing levels.
  • The youngest students have larger text they can trace and coloring pages.
