Reading is one of my favorite things about our homeschool and our home — not because it is always peaceful or quiet, but because books are just always happening around here.
Reading fits into our day in small pockets rather than one dedicated block. My one year old gets read to throughout the day and before nap and bed: board books, sing-alongs, whatever he will sit still for, which is a variable amount of time.
My five year old and I read together before homeschool starts. During our afternoon silent reading time — when the toddler goes down for his nap — she often listens on her Yoto and follows along in the corresponding book or will just look at books since she isn't reading yet.
My eight year old reads during silent reading time and before bed and has been tearing through her current series very quickly.
My eleven year old reads any time she can get her hands on a book, which is often, and has migrated almost entirely to her Kindle she got for Christmas.
I am currently reading a few books at once. I mainly read during silent reading time and before bed with lots of audiobook listening time sprinkled in there throughout the day.
